Getting organized has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I spent years trying to do the self-help version of getting my house in order; I even bought the “Organizing for Dummies” book! Needless to say, I was near devastation when I had not gotten organized after being in our new place for almost exactly one whole year. My new neighbor, who became one of my best friends, was moved in and organized within 2 months with a 2 month breast-feeding baby in tow!!
I was near the end of my rope! I had researched some Professional Organizers in the Bay area and started calling, emailing and leaving messages for a few of them. Finally, I asked my new neighbor, Ruma, what her secret was. Just my luck as she was a life-long organizing specialist. She offered to help me and my life changed. She had a newborn baby and was home for maternity leave. Her little boy was an angel and I marveled at her energy.
Even though we were forming a friendship, Ruma was very professional and personable. The first time she came over to do the initial assessment, she never gasped or showed any reaction to make me feel badly about my way of living, or the fact that my family and I had lived there for a year already and looked like we just moved in yesterday!
We systematically went through the house and prioritized places that needed decluttering and space planning immediately. Her suggestion was the kitchen first then the master bedroom, my daughter's bedroom then all three bathrooms. She helped me get these spaces perfect and gave me the motivation to do the rest of my house on my own (including our garage) with her expert guidance and great tips. Her zen-like decorating skills went into high gear as she helped me design and organize a peaceful, backyard-seating and grilling space as well.
I am so proud of my home and I no longer need to go for long drives to clear my head because my house is clutter free and I can stay home to enjoy my serene living space. Ruma, THANK YOU for improving my quality of living! We are now looking to purchase a second home on the north coast and we would not even think of moving in until Ruma reviews all the room layouts and helps us with the space planning and purchase of new furniture!

Ruma helped after our office moved to a smaller space. She has great practical ideas on space and her attention to details is awesome. Little things like how to label cabinets and files was very helpful. We have a very large library/conference room where she categorized and organized all of our books and compact discs. Our downstairs storage room was a drop off point for a lot of extra stuff like holiday and event decor to name a few. Ruma totally helped me get that space in order as well. She even helped me load my truck (more than once) and take a huge pile of donations to the goodwill station. In addition to all of this, Ruma has an infectious personality and is super friendly!

When she got to my house, it was as if I had known her for years. She is very friendly and outgoing and easy to get along with. She wasn’t in shock over the condition of my kids’ playroom, nor did she pass any judgment on the state of my kitchen and family room. She went over ideas she had and then went to work. The playroom turned out fantastic. And even though with three kids, it can’t remain as perfect as the day she left, how she organized their toys makes it much easier and faster for them to clean up themselves.
She also organized my home office which my husband was very grateful for. Every drawer and shelf is organized and now my husband can find everything he looks for. Ruma also decorated my formal living/game room. The bookshelves in this room were filled with junk and mainly the kids’ random things. Ruma rearranged what was on the bookshelves in a very interesting way and organized the room so it no longer looks like a frat house or a daycare. Her patience and teaching skills have prompted me to try my kitchen on my own using her great tips and techniques. Thanks Ruma for finally making my house look like grown-ups live in it!
